Perfect Moment at WPA (1989) Documentary Film 10-min
Taped in 1989 at the height of the NEA censorship controversy, footage appeared on Oprah! and on newscasts across the country. The exhibition of photographs by Robert Mapplethorpe was mounted at the Washington Project for the Arts after the Corcoran Gallery of Art was pressured to cancel. Interviews feature curator Philip Brookman and James Fitzpatrick, Esq. Linda Lewett, producer and editor, Matt Dibble camera, and Maida Withers, co-concept and interviewing subjects on camera.

Mary Christmas / The Ax; Performance Documentary (1992)
Maida Withers performs at Cabaret Re-Voltaire at The Washington Project for the Art's. "The Ax was done when I was deeply involved with environmental/ecology issues. The plastic suit represents the risk put on our survival as we destroy our trees that clean our air that gives us life-sustaining oxygen. The choice is between my love of the shiny powerful and potentially destructive ax and my love of nature and my own life."



Dance 24 Hours; Documentary Excerpt 3:00 min
Maida Withers dances blindfolded with ear's plugged for 24 hours in a performance/protest/ritual in solidarity with those displaced by the brutality of war in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other places. 24 Hours was performed simultaneously with Miguel Gutierrez, founder in NYC, and 35 dance artists in 35 other states. Withers performance was streamed for public viewing.

Documentary film based on view of Russiann dancers, producers, and choreographers about modern dance in Russia. Taped during tour of modern dance festivals with Maida Withers Dance Construction Company in St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk and Solovki, Russia plus visiting Russian dance company presented in New York City at DTW.
